Surfing

Rossnowlagh is a long established surfing stronghold.  From beginners to advanced surfers, our clean breaks and safe waters are ideal for surfers of all levels and abilities.  For a change of scenery, the world renowned breaks at Bundoran and Mullaghmore are only a short drive away.  There are many surf schools in the area that cater for all levels and we would be happy to help you arrange lessons or equipment hire during your stay.  See What’s On for a list of upcoming events.

Kite Surfing

A relatively recent addition to the Rossnowlagh seascape, acrobatic kite surfing is really taking off (sorry!) and is fast becoming a common sight on our pristine 3 mile beach.  Any kite surfers wishing to stay with us can feel free to contact us about equipment storage.

Paddle Boarding

Paddle boarding lessons and equipment hire are also available locally and we would be happy point you in the right direction explore the waters this way.

Horse Trekking

Horse trekking is available locally. Please enquire at reception for further information.

Golf

Golfers are spoiled for choice when visiting Rossnowlagh.  Murvagh Golf Club and Driving Range is located 6 miles to our north.  The Great Northern Hotel Gold Club is a short drive to the south.  A 30 minute drive will take you to the world renowned Lough Erne Golf Resort in Co. Fermanagh.

Walks & Wildlife

If you want to keep your toes dry (ish!) there is a wealth of local flora, fauna and stunning views to explore on foot when you visit Rossnowlagh.  The beach itself extends north around the shore as far as Murvagh.  To the south, enjoy stunning views across the bay on the Creevy Cliff walk which takes you from Rossnowlagh to Creevy Pier winding past the ruins of Kilbarron Castle en route.

Keeping it local, the nearby Durnesh Lake is designated a Special Area of Conservation and is home to an abundance of birds, mammals and flora in their pristine native habitat. We will happy to point you in the right direction explore this wonderful amenity.

Castle Adventure Open Farm (New 2015)

Castle Adventure Open Farm is situated between Creevy & Ballyshannon, It has a wide variety for all ages including Farm animals, indoor soft play areas, large outdoor activity play areas with a zip line and real JCB Digger – lots for all the family, or maybe just hide away in the coffee shop.  Disabled access throughout.

 Waterworld

Waterworld is an award winning Aqua Adventure Playground for children of all ages. Enjoy two leisure pools. A slide pool with three slides – Scute Shute, Traffic Light Slide and Tornado Flume plus the Whizzer Slide, the fastest waterslide in Ireland and over 65m long. A fantastic way to pass a rainy summers day for all the family! ! :) :)

Children’s playgrounds Bundoran & Ballyshannon

There is a Children’s playground in The Mall, Ballyshannon. There are also two children’s playgrounds in Bundoran – one beside The Waterworld and the other on Main Street.

You will be spoiled for choice after a hard day’s fun in Rossnowlagh.  Smugglers Creek, The Gaslight and Surfer’s bar are all nearby and a short drive will bring you to Creevy, Ballyshannon and Donegal Town for the best Donegal hospitality has to offer! Finally try Finnegan’s Shop – for all your camping supplies and daily groceries.
